Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

As a technical service provider and employer, Hellebrekers is inextricably linked to its social environment. This means, first of all, that we vigilantly monitor the effects of our business activities on people and the environment. Second, social involvement for us means looking at how our company can make a positive contribution to the current and future society that we are part of. We are always consciously looking for ways to make Hellebrekers an even better “Corporate Citizen”. In doing so, we continually strive to achieve a good balance between the three Ps: People, Planet and Profit.

People

The ‘People’ aspect concerns the social side of doing business, attention for employees and people outside the organisation. We realise that our business performance depends largely on these people. So good mutual relationships and professional or personal development are key themes within Hellebrekers. This is reflected in various programmes, for example:

  • We enrich knowledge among employees through education, training and courses in areas such as technology, safety, management or language;
  • We create a safe working environment for everyone involved in Hellebrekers' projects, through measures such as SCC certifications and an up-to-date internally applicable RI&E (Risk Inventory and Evaluation);
  • We offer a career path - a position with advancement opportunities - rather than just a job;
  • We stimulate regional technical education by offering apprenticeships and involvement in, for example, the Techniek Academie (Technology Academy), the RBPI (Regional Policy Platform for Installation Technology) and the Platform Techniek Noordwest-Veluwe (Platform for Technology in Northwest Veluwe);
  • We support technical education in the Dutch water sector, through involvement in Top Sector Water;
  • We make voluntary contributions to additional amenities for patients at St. Jansdal Hospital in Harderwijk, through involvement with the Friends of the St. Jansdal Hospital Foundation;
  • We are an official sponsor of sports organisations, such as the Koninklijke Nederlandse Zwembond (Royal Dutch Swimming Association) and various regional sports associations.

Planet

The ‘Planet’ aspect includes stewardship for flora and fauna, caring for the environment and considered management of energy. At Hellebrekers, we believe that technology makes a crucial contribution to a better environment. Based on that belief, in addition to making our business activities more sustainable, we are strongly committed to implementing technology that is less harmful to nature. This is demonstrated by, for example:

  • The development and supply of sustainable technologies for the leisure, manufacturing and process industries;
  • Our focus on the use of renewable energy sources and the energy reduction guarantees we offer in the leisure and industrial sectors;
  • Our policies on separating waste, targeted management of our internal energy consumption and our vehicle fleet fuel consumption, and recycling residual materials;
  • Action to ensure sustainability in our business operations and projects, for example through registration with the Duurzameleverancier.nl platform.
  • Our commitment to safe and healthy swimming water through involvement in professional organisations such as ENVAQUA and the Adviesgroep Nieuwe Zwembadwetgeving (New Swimming Pool Legislation Advisory Group).

Profit

The ‘Profit’ aspect means that an organisation focuses on the market and on creating economic value. ‘Profit’ is necessary to secure the future of an organisation, and is a prerequisite for the implementation of actions to support ‘People’ and ‘Planet’. Hellebrekers demonstrates in several areas that efficient operations can go hand in hand with sustainability:

  • We meet the requirements of the latest edition of ISO 9001 (2015), an international standard for quality management in the areas of customer, product and organisation;
  • Our operations are demand-driven, i.e. we design in line with the customer's requirements and determine our offer based on customer dialogue and market research;
  • We implement Lean Management in various business units, focusing on achieving maximum customer value with as little waste as possible;
  • We are members of industry associations, such as the FME and Techniek Nederland;
  • We are involved in national legislative and regulatory consultation bodies, such as the advisory group for the new swimming pool water legislation;
  • We encourage cooperation with other organisations through involvement in regional business associations, the national Vereniging voor Sport & Gemeenten (Association for Sports & Municipalities) and other associations.
